Communication Settings

Configure communication settings for connected MicroPeckerX units in the Device Window.
Always complete these settings before starting monitoring.

Basic Operation

Communication setup flow:

  1. Open Device Window
Select Device Window from the menu or toolbar.
Device Window
  1. Select target channel
In the device list on the left side of Device Window, click Ch*-1 (* is 1 to 4). The Protocol Setting area changes to LIN bus communication settings.
When using multiple MicroPeckerX units, configure each channel used for LIN bus monitoring.

  2. Select revision and baudrate
In Revision and Baudrate pull-down menus in Protocol Setting, select LIN revision and LIN bus baudrate from presets.

Protocol Setting - Revision and Baudrate
  1. Select bit width
In the BitWidth tab of Protocol Setting, select bit widths for SyncBreak and related items from presets.
Protocol Setting - BitWidth tab
  1. Configure ID definition
In the ID Definition tab of Protocol Setting, configure data length and checksum type per ID.
Protocol Setting - ID Definition tab
  1. Configure wakeup pulse width and sleep time
In the Wakeup/Sleep tab of Protocol Setting, select wakeup pulse width and sleep time from presets.
Protocol Setting - Wakeup/Sleep tab

LIN bus communication settings are now complete.

Device Window
ItemDescription
Device List
(Area 1)
Displays a list of MicroPeckerX units recognized by MicroPeckerX Control Software.
You can enable/disable each channel by toggling the checkbox on the left of each channel.
Up arrow buttonSwaps the selected MicroPeckerX channel position with the one above it in Device List.
For example, if a unit assigned to Ch2 is selected, it will be moved to Ch1 (the Ch1 unit moves to Ch2).
Down arrow buttonSwaps the selected MicroPeckerX channel position with the one below it in Device List.
For example, if a unit assigned to Ch2 is selected, it will be moved to Ch3 (the Ch3 unit moves to Ch2).
Device InfoSerialDisplays serial number of the MicroPeckerX selected in Device List.
ModelDisplays model name of the MicroPeckerX selected in Device List.
Blink LED buttonBlinks green and yellow LEDs of the MicroPeckerX selected in Device List.
Click again to stop blinking.
This helps identify the selected device.
Device Refresh buttonRe-detects MicroPeckerX units connected to the PC.
Protocol Setting
(Area 2)
If a Serial row is selected in Device List, registered licenses on MicroPeckerX are shown.
If a channel row is selected, the communication setting screen is shown.
If an unrecognized device is selected, No Device is shown.

Protocol Setting

ItemDescription
Protocol SettingDisplays information of the selected channel.
RevisionSets LIN revision. Select from:
1.3, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2A
BaudrateSets communication baudrate. Select from:
500, 600, 1k, 1200, 2400, 4800, 5k, 9600, 10k, 10417, 14400, 15k, 19200, 20k, 25k, Custom [bps]

See:
BitWidth ID Definition Wakeup/Sleep
Default All buttonResets Protocol Setting values for the selected channel to defaults.
See Device Setting Defaults.

BitWidth Tab

In the BitWidth tab, you can set bit widths between fields in the header and response.

BitWidth tab
ItemDescription
Sync BreakSets bit width of header break field. Range: 10-26.
Sync Break DelimiterSets bit width between break field and sync byte field. Range: 1-20.
Header SpaceSets bit width between sync byte field and protected field. Range: 0-20.
Inter Frame Response SpaceSets bit width between header and response. Range: 0-20.
Inter Byte SpaceSets bit width between data bytes, and between data and checksum in response. Range: 1-20.
Default buttonResets only BitWidth tab settings of the selected channel to defaults. Revision, baudrate, and other tabs are unchanged.
See Device Setting Defaults.
HeaderShows header bit length based on current bit-width settings. Values update immediately when any bit width is changed.
If header length exceeds LIN limit (47.6 bits), Exceeds Max Header Length! is shown. Monitoring can still be started.
DLWhen DL (data length) is selected from pull-down (1-8), LIN max frame bit length is shown in Max, and calculated frame bit length based on current settings and DL is shown in Total. Values update immediately when bit width or data length changes.
If Total exceeds Max, Exceeds Max Frame Length! is shown. Monitoring can still be started.

ID Definition Tab

In the ID Definition tab, you can configure data length and checksum type for each ID.

ID Definition tab
ItemDescriptionNotes
ID Definition Table
(Area 1)
DLDisplays data length for each ID.To change data length, use DL Setting.
DL SettingSets data length for each ID. Leftmost cell means 1, rightmost means 8. Click a cell to change data length.
When data length changes, DL display is updated.
Checksum TypeSets checksum type. Click Classic or Enhanced.
ID number tab
