Introduction

Purpose of This Document

This manual explains how to use the MicroPeckerX Update Tool. By using the Update Tool, you can update the firmware of the MicroPeckerX main unit. Refer to this document whenever you need to update the MicroPeckerX firmware.

Terminology

This section explains the terminology used in this document.

TermDescription
MicroPeckerXCollective name for the hardware provided by Sunny Giken that is equipped with an in-vehicle communication interface. It can be used for many purposes such as analysis and data acquisition.
Update Tool
(MPXUpdateTool.exe)
Windows application that updates the firmware (internal software) of the MicroPeckerX main unit. Use it when you need to apply the latest features or bug fixes.
Device ListArea on the main screen of the Update Tool that lists the MicroPeckerX units that are connected, including their serial numbers, whether an update is required, and their current status.
SerialUnique serial number assigned to each MicroPeckerX unit. Used to identify devices during updates and license management.
Update (Needed/Not Needed)Indicates whether an update is required (Needed) or not required (Not Needed) for the connected unit.
StatusDisplays the status of the unit (waiting to update, updating, success, failure, and so on).
Self-powered USB hubUSB hub that uses an external power supply. A self-powered hub is recommended to provide stable power during updates.
Bus-powered USB hubUSB hub powered from the computer's USB port. Not recommended because insufficient power during updates may damage the unit.
LED indicatorsLEDs on the unit that show its status or the update result in green, yellow, or red. They serve as indicators to confirm the outcome.
Connecting/disconnectingOperation of plugging and unplugging the unit or cable from a USB port. You may be instructed to connect or disconnect the unit before or after the update.
